Stick of Lostwithiel reopens

Wednesday 21st December 2011

A year after the November 2010 floods which ruined many businesses and homes in Lostwithiel, the last shop affected has finally opened its doors again.

Stick of Lostwithiel on Queen Street is run by Graham and Rosemary Mitson, and was one of the worst affected by the flood waters which rose to 9 inches inside the shop. Problems with their insurance company meant that the shop has remained closed until now and the Mitson family were unable to live in their home above the shop for many months.

Stick of Lostwithiel sells a huge range of goods including shoes, belts, hats and walking sticks and offers services such as key cutting and leather repairs. The shop is something of an institution in the town with a collection of old products and packages on display and even a small museum cabinet of antique shoes at the back of the shop.
