Return of Lostwithiel Memory Cafe

Wednesday 9th November 2022

Lostwithiel Memory Café is delighted to announce that we have re-opened, having considered all the risks from Covid 19 and the precautions we can take - no masks, but good ventilation.

The venue remains the same, the Oasis Studio at Lostwithiel Community Centre, but we are now meeting on alternate Wednesdays at 2 to 4 pm.

Our first Meeting was on Wednesday 2nd November, so subsequent Meetings will be Wednesday 16th November, Wednesday 30th November and December 14th  We shall then break  for Christmas and resume on Wednesdays 11th and 25th January 2023.

A leaflet will soon be available showing all Meeting Dates  going forward into the New Year.

Just as a reminder, a Memory Café is where people living with dementia / memory loss, and their Carers, can come for help and support.

Tea and delicious cakes are free, to engender a Café atmosphere where our Guests and Carers can chat and laugh together. After about 45 minutes, the Carers can go upstairs where they share  experiences and maybe help solve common problems.

From time to time we invite professionals along to provide useful information and guidance.

In the meantime the Guests downstairs can partake in a range of activities designed to provide Cognitive Stimulation Therapy such assinging, dancing and handicrafts, with as wide a range as possible.  We aim also to promote stimulating conversation. There is little doubt that these activities do improve cognition and lives.

Several times during the year we will arrange interesting outings,  again, absolutely free.

The Café is run entirely by volunteers and funded by donations, with the Rotary Club of Lostwithiel being the principal funder, but many organisations make donations and grants to ensure everything  remains free to all Members.

If you think you might benefit in any way from the Café, please just  come along or for further information please contact:
