Young Citizen Award from Lostwithiel Rotary

13 year old Christian Andersen has received a Young Citizen Award from the Rotary Club of Lostwithiel for his good nature and helpful attitude around town. In addition to the award which was presented to him at his home, he has also been given £100 in tokens.

Christian is a student at Fowey Community College, was surprised when members of the Rotary Club of Lostwithiel arrived at his house to present him with the award and .

The Young Citizen Awards have been set up by Rotary International to showcase and celebrate the positive citizenship and important responsibilities assumed by many young people under the age of 25.

Rotary club members asked Lostwithiel residents for potential candidates for the Young Citizen Awards and Christian's name kept cropping up as being a well-mannered and helpful member of the community.

His mother, Sharon Andersen, said: "Christian's father, Michael and myself are very proud of Christian for receiving this award.

"Given the difficult family circumstances Christian has grown up in throughout his life, he has proven to be a supportive, caring and helpful young man, dealing with difficult circumstances that not many children of any age would have to deal with."

"Michael, I and Christian would like to thank the community of Lostwithiel for this award, and special thanks to the Rotary Club who do many great deeds for the town all year around," she added.
