VE 80 Celebrations in Lostwithiel

May 5th 2025 - All welcome to come and Celebrate V.E Day at St Barts.
Free event starting at 1pm
- Children's competition come dressed as an evacuee,Town Band,
- Kana singers
- Cream teas
- Followed by the Misfits Swing N Jazz band .
May 8th 2025 - Flag Raising and VE Day 80 Proclamation
Flag Raising and VE Day 80 Proclamation will take place by the War Memorial on the parade at 9am on May 8th.
The Reverend Canon John Halkes, a former RAF Pilot, will be carrying out the service.
There will also be reading by local Army Cadet Ashley Wheeler of a poem by Leo Marks (1943) called: The life That I Have
Please arrive at the War Memorial by 08.30 am sharp.
May 8th 2025 - VE80 Day Lamp lighting ceremony
Location: Restormel Castle, Restormel Road, Lostwithiel
The staff at Restormel Castle are organising a VE Day Beacon lighting ceremony on 8th May 2025 at 9:30pm.
The ceremony should last approximately half an hour.
The beacon will be one of thousands up and down the country which will be lit to mark the end of the Second World War, 80 years on from the end of WWII in 1945.
