At the Lostwithiel Town Council meeting held on 7th February and promulgated in the Council minutes published yesterday (2nd March) the council agreed to spend £3638.80 plus VAT on repairs to the Mayor’s regalia.

The breakdown of the spend is as follows:-

Mayors Chain - £2990 plus VAT for repairs and £385 plus VAT for a new fitted case

Deputy Mayoress Jewel - £90 plus VAT for repairs and £31 .90 plus VAT for a new case

This money is in addition to the work being undertaken, and paid for, by the Council’s insurers.

The decision to spend the money on the regalia was made at the same meeting that agreed to raise the 2017/2018 precept to £150,436 compared with £129,000 for the 2016/2017 financial year, an increase of 16%.
