New Balance Bike Track at Tredethick Farm Cottages

Tuesday 23rd May 2017

.

Lostwithiel Business Group member Tredethick Farm Cottages are building a balance bike track which is due to open in August 2017. The track will help early bikers develop their bike handling skills and offer riders the traffic-free opportunity to take that formative step of peddling stabiliser-free for the first time.

The track will use local materials including granite, antique farm machinery and logs grown in the farm's woodlands. It is designed to capture the imagination of tiny tots from 18 months to five years and is believed to be the first in the south-west of England that is connected to farm holiday cottages.

The traffic-free track is suitable for riding on balance bikes, scooters, mini tractors and normal bikes. Features will include a mini ford, a wooden barn to drive-through  and a fuel station half way round.

There will also be seating for parents and grandparents to watch their intrepid mini farmers while enjoying views of the Fowey Valley.

Ashlyn Reed, owner of Tredethick Farm Cottages said “The bike trail will be a wonderful addition to all the fun activities that we already have on the farm and we’re looking forward to adapting and growing it organically over the coming years.”
