Lostwithiel film club turns 5

Wednesday 9th October 2013

5 is the magic number for Lostwithiel film club, Lost In Film, which is celebrating its 5th birthday in a big way, by donating £500 charity and showing 5 films for free over the next 5 months.

£250 has been donated to the End Polio Now campaign which is being supported by Rotary Club of Lostwithiel to make the final push to eradicate Polio worldwide. This donation will be match funded by a further £500 by the Gates Foundation. A further £250 has been donated to PSCO Natalie Philips' campaign for public defibrillators to be installed in Lostwithiel.

By the end of this year, the film club will have shown over 70 films to audiences in Lostwithiel since it held its initial test screening in June 2008.

As a thank you to their audiences, they are showing one free film a month until February 2014, including a family special screening at Christmas. Tickets for the free films can be collected from Watts Trading in Lostwithiel or reserved online at www.lostinfilm.org.uk

Lost In Film's equipment, purchased with grants from Cornwall Community Foundation's Grassroots Grant fund the Big Lottery Fund, is used regularly by community cinema groups in Bodmin, Cardinham, Menheniot and has been used for numerous special events such as screening the Jubilee celebrations in 2012, fundraising talks and archive footage nights.
