  • Update from Kernow Forno

Message posted on Facebook 23rd March 2020:

I think we are all struggling with the pace of change as the reality of this pandemic hits home. Last week we felt that offering pizza Mondays in Lostwithiel would be a ray of sunshine in an otherwise gloomy world, but all of a sudden we are worried that, despite our careful planning and best intentions of social distancing, the reality is we maybe putting our team and our customers at risk. Exactly the opposite of the community hub that we were trying to create. So with huge reluctance we are now closed until this wretched thing has run its course.

We are absolutely gutted about this, especially having raised your hopes and had such a fabulous response from you. But we feel this is the right decision. Stay home and stay safe.

We WILL be back - and we can’t wait to see you all out the other side. Sending our love to you and yours xx

 UPDATE 21st  March 2020

  • New You Beauty - All treatments booked for next 4 weeks cancelled

Message posted on Instagram 21st March 2020

In my heart I have known that this was coming.

We have continued to keep all of our clients safe but due to the recent update from Gov.uk, our industry has been one of those listed to be asked to close. People can argue the wording but I have to make the decision to keep my staff and clients safe.

This was never something that I thought I’d have to overcome when I opened the business. The salon is my absolute baby, my staff and all our amazing clients some of the most important people to me.

I am heartbroken to not be in the salon doing what I love, as most of you know there’s not many people who like working more than me!
This is only temporary and I can’t wait to get back in there with you all.

So all treatments booked for the next 4 weeks are cancelled, I shall be contacting those who aren’t on Facebook or Instagram. I have no idea how long this will continue for, I shall do my best to keep everyone updated as per Government guidelines.

We’re all in this together. My heart goes out to all those businesses and workers affected by this, the ones we’ve lost and the families mourning. Our amazing NHS, emergency services, our forces and all of the key workers that are continuing to keep the country moving.

Stay calm, stay safe, don’t be greedy, look out for one another and we’ll see you all in no time ❤️

All our love

Kali, Jenny, Rachel and Lynn xxxx

 UPDATE 18th  March 2020

  • Suspension of Church Services

Message from Rev Paul Beynon via facebook  on 18th March:

It is with much sadness that the Archbishop of Canterbury suspended public worship in all Anglican churches today. In response, the benefice of Lostwithiel which includes the churches at lanlivery, lostwithiel, st Winnow, st veep, bradoc and boconnoc will regrettably be closed for all services until further notice. We are endeavouring to launch a live streaming service very soon and will notify you when this is available. We are also making available other worship resources, please contact the church office if you would like to receive any of them.
The churches remain open for prayer during the day as usual however, and I will maintain pastoral support for as many as require it. Please do contact me or the church office if you need anything in the meantime, and do please join me in praying for those affected most by the pandemic.

  • Antique and Collector's Market Cancelled

Message from Jill Thomson dated 18th March:-

Please note that the Antique and Collector's Market held on the first Saturday of each month in the Scout Hut is cancelled until further notice.

Lost In Film hope to be able to restart again before the end of June, so please check the website or join the mailing list.

  • Duchy of Cornwall Nursery  -  Cafe closed but the nursery, shop and glasshouse remain open

Message from Duchy of Cornwall Nursery via facebook  on 17th March:

The cafe will close for 4 weeks with effect from Wednesday 18th March. All events have been cancelled and where pre-payments or deposits have been made, these will be refunded in full. This is primarily due to the proximity of customers within this environment and to remove large gatherings at this time. The nursery, shop and glasshouse will remain fully open as we feel this is a safe, external environment for our customers and promotes healthy outdoor activity at this time of year.

Please note that we will be removing all cash handling from the building during this period and that only card and ideally contactless payments will be accepted. We have already introduced increased sanitisation of all washrooms, contact and transactional areas. Credit card terminals will immediately be subject to continuous sanitising processes. Please help us to help you, by using both the hand wash products and sanitiser provided in the washrooms.

  • Lost In Books offer on-line book ordering and free local delivery during closure

Message from Lost In Books  via facebook  on 18th March:

In line with government advice to reduce social contact and due to the vulnerability of close family members, we have decided to close the shop until further notice.

However we will be providing an online book ordering service with free delivery (within a 5 mile radius). You can direct message or email hello@lost-in-books.co.uk with your request. Payment can be made through PayPal, BACS or card over the phone.

We will be using social media in the meantime to connect with customers regarding book reviews, inspiring quotes, forthcoming publications. In this difficult time use reading to find inspiration, information and ultimately to pass the time!

 UPDATE 14th  March 2020

  • Lostfest has been cancelled.

Following message. dated 14th March 2020 taken from their facebook page:-

The LostFest committee has been weighing up the evidence of the spread of COVID 19 and its likely impact on festival-goers and the people of Lostwithiel. Many festivals take place in open countryside, where the festival is isolated away from the general public. Consequently, individuals make their own decision about whether to attend. Lostfest brings people into the middle of a tight knit residential area.

The committee has therefore reluctantly decided that it would be unwise to hold LostFest on May 17th.  It is uncertain how long the epidemic will last. If it has run its course by late Summer, it may be possible to hold a more modest version of LostFest.

  • Opening of Lostwithiel Museum has been delayed

Following message. dated 13th March 2020 taken from their website page:-

At the Museum Committee Meeting held on 12th March 2020 it was decided that, in light of issues related to Coronavirus, it would be wise to delay re-opening the Museum, originally planned for 6th April, until further notice.

The Committee Members and Trustees acknowledge their duty of care towards our volunteers and visitors, a responsibility which is taken very seriously. They will, therefore, do their best to protect your health and safety by monitoring the situation, taking professional advice and acting accordingly. It is therefore impossible at this stage to say when the Museum will re-open.

As the Museum will not be re-opening on 6th April we will also postpone the Social Get-together planned for 24th March. This event will take place closer to the new date for re-opening the Museum.

Committee members will continue to work behind the scenes in readiness for re-opening the Museum, whenever that might be. If there are any volunteers who would like to be involved with our 'Winter Projects' we would be delighted to work with you. Please contact The Chairman.

With kind regards,

Lostwithiel Museum Association Committee
