Cornwall Council Propose Road Safety Enhancements at Lostwithiel's A390 No Man's Land Junction
Cornwall Council has launched a public consultation on road safety improvements planned for the A390 and B3269 junction at No Man's Land in Lostwithiel. These upgrades aim to drastically reduce the risk of collisions at a location with a history of serious incidents.
Key proposals for the A390 Road Safety Scheme include:
-
Removal of Uphill Traffic Island: The existing traffic island and sign on the uphill approach from Lostwithiel will be removed. This change is specifically designed to improve safety for motorcyclists navigating the junction.
-
Extended A390 Right-Turn Lane: The right-turn lane on the A390 will be lengthened beyond the existing bend in the road. This extension will provide drivers with crucial additional time to slow down and safely react to the junction, thereby reducing the likelihood of collisions.
-
Installation of New Electronic Warning Sign: An electronic sign will be installed on the uphill approach to the junction. This sign will activate and flash a warning whenever a vehicle is waiting to exit the junction.
Public Consultation Details:
The public consultation on these proposals started on 14th July and will close on August 4, 2025.
