Crowdfunding Launched for Cornish Language Album Project - Updated 6th October
Monday 6th October 2025
Anna Anise, a folk musician based in Lostwithiel, is organising a crowdfunding campaign for her debut bilingual album. Anna possesses a deep love for storytelling, melody, and cultural roots, and her music is known for weaving English and Cornish language lyrics into a rich, melodic folk style that honours the past while creating something new.
The Project
Anna is seeking funds to record, release, and tour her forthcoming debut album, which she describes as a heartfelt collection of songs. The project is positioned as being more than just a musical release; it is intended as a celebration of Cornwall's language (Kernewek) , land, and identity.
Anna emphasizes that Kernewek, is a living language and a vital part of the region's heritage. Through the creation of this album, she intends to help raise the language's visibility by sharing the stories and voices of Cornish people and places through music.
How to Support
By backing the project, supporters are helping to keep Cornish culture vibrant and heard. Rewards for contributors include early downloads, signed albums, vinyl records, and other exclusive items. The musician also notes that simply sharing the campaign will be a significant help to the project's success. You can donate to the project via this link.
UPDATE FROM ANNA DATED 6TH OCTOBER
"We’re now into the final 10 days of the campaign and have just passed the £5K mark (!) I’m feeling incredibly grateful for all the support so far. Whether you’ve contributed, shared the link, or cheered the project on, thank you for helping bring Aneth to life!
There’s still a way to go, and this is the time when most pledges tend to come in - so if you know someone who might love the project, please do pass it on. Every bit of support and word-of-mouth really makes a difference.
In the past couple of weeks I’ve been busy - I joined Matthi ab Dewi with my creative translator Elizabeth Ellis on An Radyo to talk about the album and share a few of the album demos, which was a real joy. I’ve also had support from some brilliant platforms including Voices Radio, Halway Centre for Folk Arts newsletter, and Speak Cornish, all helping shine a light on the project.
I was also invited to play at Acoustic Café in Tavistock on Saturay for a packed, welcoming room tucked inside the Printworks. It was one of the most unexpectedly lovely gigs I’ve done on this journey.
It’s amazing to see the momentum growing. However far we go, every penny raised will go into making Aneth the most meaningful album possible - and if we reach the full goal, it opens the door to creating something even more rooted in community and culture.
Thanks again for being part of this - I’ll keep you updated!
Meur ras/ thank you,
Anna Anise x"
