Lost In Art – Hands-on Taster Workshops

Location: Elaine Foster-Gandey Art, 15 Queen St, Lostwithiel
As part of Lost in Art, Lostwithiel's arts festival, visitors can continue the creative experience at Elaine Foster-Gandey Art on Saturday 12 September, with a programme of four hands-on workshops exploring different approaches to making, materials and the natural world.
11am–12 noon Anne Blackwell-Fox: Beginners Printmaking Class
Make a beautiful botanical print using plants from your garden or hedgerow. This beginner-friendly introduction uses minimal equipment, with techniques that can be tried at home.
12.30–1.30pm Mary Toon: British Fleece to Felt
Mary Toon will explain how she prepares fleece for felting before giving participants the chance to work with a variety of British fleeces and discover how flyaway fleece can be transformed into firm fabric through heating, wetting and agitation.
Please note: this workshop is not suitable for people with a wool allergy.
2–3pm Emma Spring: Introduction to Mosaic
Join professional mosaic artist Emma Spring for a hands-on introduction to the tools, techniques and materials used in this ancient and continually evolving discipline. The workshop offers an accessible opportunity to explore mosaic making and discover the craft for yourself.
3–5pm Lily-Grace Magner: Natural Pigments – The Alchemy of Colour
Explore the alchemy of processing natural pigments using foraged and found materials. This two-hour workshop is an introduction for all abilities, inviting participants to play and experiment with colour found in the hedgerows and created from kitchen waste. Discover the possibilities of natural colour and explore how everyday and foraged materials can be
transformed into beautiful pigments.
