Day Excursions from Lostwithiel using Public Transport
Created by Lostwithiel Forum Transport Users Group
Correct as at October 2014
This sections contains some ideas for travel to other parts of the county and beyond using public transport. It is possible to get from Lostwithiel to towns on the mainline railways fairly easily, but visits to other towns can be more complicated. As many of us prefer to use the bus, this gives some example excursions using the bus connections into the west and the east. As Lostwithiel has few bus services of its own, the excursions here use early morning and early evening train services to connect with the nearest bus routes. Where a shorter (and often less interesting) rail connection is possible this is also shown.
All services and connections relate to the Monday to Friday timetable. Rail services sometimes differ on Saturdays and may be non-existent on Sundays. Please check the full timetables before travelling as short-notice changes are sometimes made. Buses sometimes run late, so check carefully the time allowed for transfers. If you miss a crucial connection, taxis are available:
Roger’s Taxi’s Lostwithiel: 01208 873324 or 07976 372066
Badger Cars of Lostwithiel: 01208 871538 or 07917 715383
Connections shown are from stops adjacent to the railway stations except where indicated. A Senior Rail Card can be used on all train services with a discount of a third and the Concessionary Bus Pass can be used on all bus services after 9.30.
