Mantra and Meditation

The Voice has been used as a tool for health and healing for thousands of years. Chanting Mantra is steeped in tradition and can be found throughout history around the world.
Chanting a Mantra at the beginning of a meditation helps you clear the mind and takes you deep within the self. Chanting a Mantra at the end of meditation helps you seal the meditation. It helps you bring the awareness of the meditation into your daily life.
By combining sound, breath and rhythm, Mantra meditation channels the flow of energy through the mind-body circuit, adjusting the chemical composition of our internal states and regulating brain-hemisphere imbalances. By balancing the nervous system, chanting regulates the chronic stress and tension that is so common for people in today’s hyper-stimulated lifestyle. By balancing the endocrine system, chanting normalises hormone production, which balances our moods and overall sense of well-being.
You do not need to be an experienced singer or have experience of chanting Mantra to join us for this course. The sessions will be gentle and expertly guided by Voice specialists Emily and Jane. You will learn simple Mantras and will experience the power of humming and vocal toning - simply singing on vowel sounds - to create a sonic soundscape using only the voice. The silence and stillness of Meditation will offer a space for reflection and absorption of the healing vibrations.
Our approach to healing with the voice is holistic and therefore will encompass some gentle body and posture work, breath exploration and voice care exercises.
