Defibrillator Appeal

Tuesday 8th October 2013

As you may have seen in the Cornish Guardian, I am trying to raise funds to purchase 3 public access defibrillators. Across the UK 2000 people die from a sudden Cardiac Arrest (heart attack) each week. The chance of survival from CPR alone is around 5% whereas if a defibrillator is used the patient is 10 times more likely to survive the attack.

A shock from a defibrillator within one minute increases chances of survival to 90%. I have been working with Paul Williams from Ronnie Richards Memorial Charity, as he has managed to secure a great price for the Heartsine Sam 500p, the leading defibrillator, which is ued around the world including in America's White House.

If you feel you would be able to either donate or help with fundraising please contact me on 01726 812262 or natalie.phillips@devonandcornwall.pnn.police.uk

Many thanks, PCSO Natalie Phillips
