Carnival week - Charity Fayre Country Pursuits Day

Sunday 11th July 2010, 1:30pm to 6:00pm

Location: King George V playing fields

King George V playing field is the venue for the opening of Carnival Week by the Mayor of Lostwithiel, Vic May, and Rotary President Jeremy Hoskin.

The afternoon has numerous attractions to suit all ages. Local charities and organisations have their stalls around the perimeter of the field, whilst demonstrations of country pursuits including sheep shearing, ferret racing, fly fishing, village green cricket and the Cornish wrestling tournaments add to the excitement.

The Young Farmers provide sustenance throughout the afternoon, whilst the Town Band provides a touch of culture. The afternoon also features the knock-out heats of the Lostwithiel's Got Talent competition for any locals under the age of 18; full details can be found on the entry forms which are available from Penhaligon's Newsagents from June 1st onwards.
