Lostwithiel Bridge - Short Story Competition
With support from The Heritage Lottery Fund we are delighted to introduce an additional class into this year’s Produce Show – a short story class featuring Lostwithiel Bridge.
This Grade 1 listed structure at the heart of our community has played a key role in many historical events over the past 800 years or more. Your entry should be a fictional short story (no more than 500 words in length) and should feature the bridge in some way.
The bridge has many stories to tell from its construction in medieval times, its role in the Civil War, or from the present day as children play under the arches, or as the Christmas Pageant pauses to sing carols. You might like to use any of these activities as part of your story or why not develop your own theme and surprise us with your imagination and inventiveness.
There are three classes in total, two for Primary Schools (under 8 and 8 and over) plus a class for Senior Schools (up to and including 16 years). Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each class.
